Here are some notes from last night's Clan meeting for those of you who missed it. Your input on these issues is welcome, but the the issues have been resolved as stated below.
First issue: Member decorum
The 209RA has always been a clan of gentlemanly behavior, and now even more, as we’re part of the ROYAL family of clans. EVERYONE including myself is expected to: Refrain from telling players in public matches how bad they are, refrain from responding to negative comments, refrain from giving up before the battle starts or during the battle because "your team sucks". Team damage is frowned on and intentional team damage depending on circumstance will not be tolerated.
Should you need clarifications or have concerns regarding this please do not hesitate to speak with an officer.
Second issue: Focus of the Clan
The primary purpose of this meeting was to figure out… “Where do we want to go as a clan?” Are we purely social? Are we simply a tag for people to wear? Are we a clan of Skirmish players? Team players? Strongholds? Clan Wars?
With 47 members, 37 of them active in the last month, and only 28 active in the last week, it was decided the 209th has no business being active in Clan Wars in the near future.
We intend to set up a dedicated stronghold night, but remember that strongholds can be started at anytime and by anyone, don't feel the need to have an officer present to get them rolling. If you don’t know how to set up a stronghold battle, ask one of the officers.
Skirmishes: (Weekly Tournaments)
I’m setting up a skirmish team for weekend only battles every week. PLEASE check forums and join. We’ve not had enough members to field a team twice in the last month.
Third Issue: Recruiting
Recruiting is EVERYONE’s job!!! Keep your eyes open for non tagged players in public matches that are polite, good players. Talk to them, platoon with them. If YOU don’t recruit new people, then you don’t have people to platoon with.
Membership requirements have been set, but not set in stone.
New members should have about 2500 battles, and be over 18. Neither of these issues is set in stone, but please don’t approach someone with substantially fewer battles. Maturity can be judged on a case by case basis. All members are required to have teamspeak and a mic. Players without TS can’t hear directions in battle, and those without a mic make it difficult to judge their maturity, along with not hearing what they need to convey in battle.
Fourth Issue: Elections
With the low number of active members, constantly changing leadership helps to foster a clan with no direction and a lack of long term planning. We are one of very few clans in this game that change leaders on a regular basis.
That said, it was decided to do away with annual elections, and simply put in place a mechanism for the members to call for a vote of no confidence in the commander. I’ll be sorting that out in the next week or two, and will post details of how it will work.
All members present expressed their full support for this new system, as well as all other issues as resolved.
I hope we can bring glory to the 209RA, bring new members in, and improve our current members enjoyment of the game!
Good luck and good tanking!
